Pembrokeshire Sports Boats - Final Stage: Interior

For the final stage of the project we were placed into two groups and split into different roles for our designated tasks, my role was an interior designer, as my design for the interior layout was chosen in stage 1 and our client liked the organic feel and curved lines so interior sketches were produced and a scale model of the exterior and interior were created in the group ready for the final presentation of the PSB project.

The brief to design a new luxury cruiser boat for a local boat company based on a current hull design, extending their current range of boats to the market, creating a boat to stand out among the rest to be 'out there' in its appearance and to a attract new potential customers to the world of boating. The client wanted to see sketches of proposed ideas to then choose a design to then take onto stage 2 development process.

Icons

Henry Moore - Weekend Warrior

This design was influenced by Henry Moores reclining figures I discovered the idea for the design by researching his sculptures, I discovered a particular piece, that had a distinctive form, the reclining figure's legs resembled the perfect shape to use as the basis for my design, from the side of the figure the tops of the legs arched over from the knees and thighs which created a natural roof line and the backs of the knees the windows.
The caravan has opening rear door that creates a small terrace area and a pop up bedroom creating head room and a double bed, it can sleep for people with a shower, toilet, kitchen along with seating/sleeping area.

Barbara Hepworth - Helix

The research of my chosen artist,to use their influences to help me design a vehicle, Barbara Hepworths sculptures seemed to incorporate a spiral, this detail led me to produce a very simple form of transport that I feel could resemble anything from a car to a boat its very adaptable in its form. I felt it was beautiful left as it was I didn't want to add wheels or wings for me it represented Barbara Hepworths works.

Swiss Army Knife City Vehicle

The brief, to create a vehicle that can be used in a city environment for the future. My design was based around busy city life, hectic lifestyles endless traffic unable to move freely, my prediction of over populated cities. The vision was to produce a vehicle that runs on electricity and can be parked almost anywhere by folding itself upright, this influenced the feel of a Swiss army knife, enabling it to park in any tight spot, this led to the idea of creating a fleet of vehicles replacing taxis. People would pay a small fee to use the vehicles that would be parked together upright at power docking stations around a city choosing the option to use them from an hour to all day for shopping or to explore, taking people from one place to another in an environmentally friendly and stress free way.

Porsche Super Car

The brief, to design a Porsche super car. I gathered my inspiration from existing Porsche models researching the evolution of their cars. I took into account the iconic details that have always made the cars what they are,the round headlamps, the whale tail spoilers from the eighties, the large vented engine covers from the nighties and the curvaceous lines from the fifties, creating a super car that offers sexy Italian flare and style with Germanic engineering.

Brand Transfer

The Brief, design an electric car for city life, using the brand Sony, design exterior and interior using a media of your choice.

My design was a two seater concept,to be used as a taxi or shopping vehicle to carry passenger and driver. Its unique design was influenced by hi tech Japan and Tokyos city streets with the feel of Sonys gadgets and devices.

Amphibious Vehicle

The brief was to design an amphibious vehicle I found my inspiration looking at a floating leaf on water and admiring the beautiful organic shape and colours of a mandarin duck,my design has animalistic influences like the stubby tail and the wings on the side as if its ready to take flight from the water, The vehicle is powered by two fuel water jet engines found on jet skis when it is in use on water, these in turn power turbines that charge batteries inside the vehicle to enable the vehicle to drive on land, three wheels move up and down inside the chassis when it enters and leaves the water.
